Hoping For A Miracle: Céline Dion Clings To Her Family As Her Husband's Cancer Battle Worsens

Céline Dion is concerned about the health of her husband Rene Angelil and need the strength of his family.

The decision to move from Las Vegas to Boston says a lot about how deep the situation has become. "They have been told not to get their hopes up - this can be better, René's last chance to survive their cancer," a family friend tells Closer. "Although it might be a Hail Mary pass, René has a fighting spirit and Celine is there fighting too."



They will need all the ammunition they can get. René was diagnosed with aggressive disease in 1999 - that expired, but years later, the cancer returned and underwent surgery in December 2013. The following August, Céline had postponed its high profile in the residence Caesars Palace - which is scheduled to return at the end of this summer - in order to care for her husband full time.

"René has largely lost the ability to speak or listen," says the friend. "He cannot eat without a feeding tube, and his body is in a state of weakness."
